Adam oh Adam

Adam's appetite seems to have improved but he is still refusing milk and has severe diarrhea..

Just found out our medical card (thanx to hubby's employer) is one of the rare few that doesn't need GL to see specialist for kids below 12 years. So, we are off to KPJ.. see ya!

*update*
Dr Ling was not around so we went to Dr Yasmin instead.. I love her! So soft spoken and gentle to my baby.. Adam did not shed a single cry.. Anyway, she suspected the pervious antibiotic causes the diarrhea and the rashes.. so, she changed the antibiotic and gives Adam lactose free milk for the time being. Get well soon sayang..

tonsillitis

When we woke up on Saturday morning, Adam was having a fever. Thinking it was his molar teeth sprouting out, I just gave him paracetamol every 4 hours. That night, he woke up in the middle of the night with a rather high temperature. Still assuming it's his teeth, I just gave him rectal supp and tepid sponged him. I switched on the laptop and let him watched Ice Age 3 to sleep.

On Sunday, Adam still had his fever. He was very cranky and I noticed he has a foul smell breath. I was thinking "takkan kecik-kecik lagi dah ada gigi rosak".. I looked into his mouth and saw no rotten tooth.. His upper gum was still swollen. Very swollen. So, I still presumed that his fever was due to the molars. I still continued giving him his paracetamol 4 hourly.

Monday morning came. Adam woke up very early and he was very uncomfortable. Even Pocoyo could not make him quiet. His body was very hot. At 7am, I decided to give him a bath to reduce the temperature as tepid sponge didn't seem to work.

Later in the morning, I brought him to the clinic. Our favourite Dr Nik Suzet was on leave and a locum was there instead. He asked me many questions and was surprised to know that I had done all the things I should have done. Duh! Parents do read ok. As Adam's temperature was more than 39c, he gave a rectal supp to Adam. This doctor is quite young. He didn't seem to be experienced enough in handling children. Never before had Adam screamed and cried as much as he did this morning. The locum didn't seem to know what was wrong with Adam since he did not have any cough, runny nose or ear inflammation. So, he referred Adam to the specialist for blood test.

cranky Adam waiting for the doctor

I was worried it could be something  serious like dengue so I called my maid and asked her to pack Adam's stuff. I dropped by to pick up the bag and went straight to KPJ Selangor to see Dr Ling. I was prepared for any possibilities because I know human don't just have a fever without any reason. From my little knowledge, I know that when our immune system is fighting with virus or bacteria or whatever, our body temperature will increase at the same time. And 3 days of high fever was not a good sign.

Dr Ling was as nice as ever. He was very gentle with Adam and Adam did not even cry when he tried to look into Adam's ears to rule out ear infection. When he checked Adam's throat, he told me not to worry as Adam just had some tonsil infection. He prescribed an antibiotic and gave paracetamol to reduce Adam's fever. It was such a relief. I know tonsillitis is still a serious illness but it is much less worrying than dengue.

So, in conclusion, these are the symptoms and what you can do to take care of your child with tonsillitis..
  • High fever for no apparent reason that lasts more than 2 days even after you continously give him/her paracetamol every 4 hours. Though Adam did not have runny nose or cough, sometimes tonsilitise come with cold as well.
  • Foul smell breath that smells like someone did not floss his/her teeth
  • Less appetite or no appetite at all due to the swollen tonsil.. It's ok if he/she refused to eat just make sure he/she has enough of milk as substitute.. According to Dr Ling, try to feed the child with small portion but more frequent than usual.
  • Wakes up in the middle of the night and cranky because he/she is uncomfortable
  • Snoring in sleep - sounds like something is blocking his/her breathing due to the swollen tonsil. So, don't try to adjust his/her sleeping position because it won't go away and you'll end up just disturbing your child's sleep (that's what I have been doing the past few days before I knew Adam's tonsil is swelling)
  • Enlarged gland at the back of his neck that signs an infection is occurring somewhere nearby.
  • If you can get your child to open his/her mouth, with a penlight, examine for redness around the edges, white spots and swelling of the tonsils or the uvula as seen in the picture below..

happy birthday hubby!

Hubby turns 28 today. Happy birthday dear..

I only bought these two slices of cake from Secret Recipe. There were only the two of us and hubby is not much of a cake person. So I might ended up gobbling the two slices. Huhuhuh... Anyway, wishing hubby a very happy year and may Allah bless him with good health and rezeki... Love you dear..
On another note, we are going to pick up my car from the workshop this morning. There goes my duit raya budget. Huhuhuhu... Junior (my car) failed on me on Tuesday when I was at the laundrette. Had to wait for half an hour for the Allianz auto care came to jump start the battery only to be told that there was a loud noise coming from the car and it needs to be towed to the workshop. Yesterday the mechanic called and told me main touli (how do I spell this? malas nak google) broke and need to be changed. So does my battery. And the car needs to be serviced as well. Huhuhuh... Sometimes I felt like I just wanna sell the car and get a new one. But there is only one year left for the HP payment. After that, I'll be free of car loan and I plan to stay that way for at least a year before considering a new car... RM743 out of the cash flow every month is alot of money.. I can do alot of things with it.. :)
We had this for sahur this morning and also the day before. I ate it with toast. Thanks to my SIL :p Her family lives in Kuala Selangor - the land of seafood.. The prawn was so fresh and big! Lain kali hantar la lagi Yana.. :)
I am going to start a new countdown - 3 working days to go untill the BIG day.. Yeayyy!!

a little bit of everything

Admitted

Had a very high fever and severe headache for a couple of days recently.. The headache didn't go away even after I took ponstant. It was really terrible. I was vomitting every time I was awake and didn't feel like eating anything at all though I was not fasting. Scared of the epidemic, I went to the doctor again and was referred to SMC. I was admitted as I looked like I can't even walk or sit at all. I was dehydrated as well. The nurses took my blood sample and later found I was negative for both viral and dengue. Alhamdulillah.. Though the fever was already gone, the headache was still there. So I was sent for an MRI scan.. Alhamdulillah everything was OK.. Then what the hell is wrong with my head? With all the tests cleared, Dr Hamidah became Dr House and tried prescribing a migraine pill for me and it works! Though the headache wasn't completely gone but it has reduced to a certain level where I can tolerate noise again.. The first few days I can't even stand listening to Adam crying in the background when I was talking to my mom on the phone.. Bingit sangat rasa.. After 3 days and 2 nights in the hospital, I was discharged and was given MC till Tuesday. Yippee!!!
Nyway, the Single Standard room were fully occupied so I upgraded for a better room for only RM10.50 per night. Yeay!! Here are some pics of the room.. Nice ain't  it? :)
Iftar with my dormates
We had an Iftar at Ole-ole Bali at Sunway Pyramid. The food was ok but the companions were great! Though some could not make it, spending tym with Phylla, Rabby and Shikin was enough to bring me back to the happy schooling time. Not that I am saying I am not happy now. But it was a different kind of happy. Shikin came with Jay and Imran. Imran was sooooo adorable and very active. He ran here and there without tired. Made me scared thinking of how Adam would be when he is 3.. Nyway, here is the pic.. Imran really loves it when I carried him like that. He even came to me and asked to be carried again after that.. What a cheeky boy he is..
What to Expect the series
When I was pregnant, I was introudced to the first book in the series, What to Expect When You Are Expecting. I really love it! It explained everything really well. They must be mothers themselves :) After giving birth to Adam, I continued with What to Expect the First Year. It was a really good buy. I referred to it more than I refer to my mom - which irritates her of course :) It has everything from what you should expect from the child, what to feed them, how much to feed them and all kind of symptoms that usually alarms first time mothers like me though it was actually harmless.. And now that Adam is already a toddler, I have upgraded myself to What to Expect the Toddler Years.
This book has been my companion since and maybe will stay that way untill Adam is 3 or until when I can call myself an experience mother :) So guys, if you need to buy something for a friend who's expecting or had just delivered a baby, the books in the series would be a very great gift. Even the price is not bad.. If I am not mistaken, it only costs RM44 each which is cheap if you compared to other books and worth every single sen compared to all other nonsense presents. And of course, one must love to read coz the book is quite thick and might scare away some non-reader.. Anyhoo, have a great day!

my lil dancer

Adam had been vomitting more than 3 times this morning. He was very lethargic that he barely moves in the car on our way to the clinic. The GP referred him to an ENT Specialist coz his eardrum was a bit swollen. On our way back home, though he could barely moves, he still moved his back muscle to the song in the radio. It was hillarious. His face was so serious and yet he's dancing to the tune!

After a few dose of medicine, Adam was still feverish and he just lied down watching the TV. When Dibo was showing, he moved up his butt to dance - while lying down! Hahahah! Unfortunately we didn't have a camera then.

So, when the Dibo song was up again, we did not miss our time to capture our cute lil dancer.. He was better then and can already sit.. Enjoy the video!

Sale! - Pampers Comfort

Last weekend, we went to Tesco Extra to get Adam's diapers. Unfortunately, Adam's usual brand was out of stock. So, Mr Hubby and me decided to purchase Pampers Comfort thinking that it must be okay since it's quite a well known brand.

Little that we know that some baby bums are just allergic to certain brand of diapers.. And price or brand doesn't even matter! Take Adam's cousin for example. He has tried Mami Poko, Huggies and all the other expensive range of other diaper brands but they just don't suit his cute little bum :p He can only wears Drypers.. No offence to Drypers fans.. I am just trying to emphasize on the pricing not the quality..

Anyway, it turns out Pampers Comfort is not suitable for our little Dadam. So, to all parents out there who swears on Pampers Comfort (Size L), you are most welcome to buy them at a discounted price. We have 2 of the 72pcs pack. One is still unopened while the other one we have used a few pcs. I am not going to mail it or anything so I would only sell to you if it is economically viable to pass you the diapers :D Any taker?

~Updates~

Hola! I am back! Actually banyak sangat keje nie... tapi xde mood sangat nak buat.. have been slacking off since yesterday :p Here goes:

1. Adam was hospitalized
Adam was hospitalized for a week for acute bronchitis. A follow up check done a week later showed that the phlegm was back without the nebulizer. So, Adam had to use inhaler (ventolin and ape tah lagi satu) at home :( As Adam is a big boy now (weighing 10.5kg and 80cm tall), we really had to wrestle with him whenever it's time for the inhaler.. huhuhu.. Anyway, here are some of Adam's pics in the hospital..

2. Adam can walk!
Just a few steps though. The most he walked that I have seen was 7 steps. So, I guess Annie won't have the chance to watch Adam crawling around. By the time you are back in end July, I bet Adam is already running around the house! ;p (Tue la sape suruh niat nak kick Adam's ass masa dia merangkak.. sebab tu Tuhan bagi Adam jalan cepat2 :p)

3. Hafidz is getting married!
Hafidz is getting married in end of July. Kain nak buat baju melayu Adam dah beli (supaya sama with the whole family) tapi x tau mana nak tempah.. Tadi call ada this one shop in Wisma Yakin tapi mak aih nak tempah baju Melayu Adam yang 1 meter je kain tu pun RM70 kalau jahit mesin kat leher and RM80 kalau nak tikam leher. Mahalnya! Dah nak sama mahal dengan jahit baju Mr Hubby. Anyone knows anywhere yang boleh tempah at reasonable rate? Around RM30 ke.. reasonable la kan?

4. Maid
We have a maid. Actually maid nie replacement. The previous one was sent home coz she has a fibroid. Maid baru ni alhamdulillah la kerja bagus.. Pandai layan Adam.. Masak pun OK.. Tapi masalahnya, dia mintak x potong gaji. Agent dia kat Indonesia pulak kata OK. Aishh.. Agreement with my Agent potong 3 bulan. Duit dah banyak bayar kat agent. So, discuss dengan dia, dia setujula potong 3 bulan, tapi bagi dia half a month gaji for 6 months. Sekali dia ckp gaji RM500 kan? WTF! My agent kata RM450 je. Dia kata dia dulu dah mintak dgn agent dia nak RM500. Kalau dia tau RM450 dia x mau datang. So what should I do now? Bila ckp with my agent, dia kata hantar balik aje. Amik yang lain. Sbb pandai demand mcm ni susah. She has some points. Tapi so far tengok this maid can be trusted. Keje pun ok. Should I relent and give her the additional RM50 per month? Or should I follow the agent's advice and send her back.. huhuhuh.. my worries nanti replacement entah mcm mana pulak.. boleh buat keje ke x.. boleh jaga Adam ke x.. huhuhuhu.. pening..

5. Groceries shopping
I wonder what is the average groceries expenditure for a family with 3 adults and a baby at home. Hmmmm.. all the while Mr Hubby n me x pernah buat budget properly for this. So, from 23/5 hari tu, I started to collect the groceries bill and it came up to quite a huge sum and it wasn't even 23/6 yet! The bulk of the bill went to Adam's necessities actually. His milk and diapers alone were already half of the amount spent so far. With the economics and our own tight cash flow, maybe we should start to skim down some of the stuff that we used to spend on. Cut the luxuries and stick to the necessities. Hmmm.. I guess being a parent is not as simple as I thought it would be. Having a child took up a lot of your resources - energy, time, money. But to be able to see your son smiles at you when he wakes up in the morning, to have him runs (or crawls) to you as fast as he could when he is scared, to feel him snuggling to you when he wants to sleep, every penny spent, every energy drained and every second passed are worth it. Seriously, a child is the best gift one could ever have. :D

Adam sedey kena potong rambut

Excited main laptop yang TK bagi

A little prayer to our Palestenian brothers and sisters

Yesterday I shed my tears after I saw the first picture in Utusan Online. This morning I cried again upon seeing the second picture in Utusan Online. But just now when I read the article below, I am angry. I really feel for our fellow brothers and sisters in Palestine. I feel so helpless for not being able to do anything to stop this madness. Whatever reason the Israelis give, I cannot see the logic behind killing the civilians especially the helpless women and children. Don't they have child of their own? What kind of people could kill children? They must be cold blooded to be able to bomb houses and schools. I can't imagine how the parents of the kids will be able to cope with their deaths. Imagine you wake up in the morning, bathe your child, put them in their freshly washed jackets and sweaters so they won't be cold when they play outside, feed them breakfast, laugh to their jokes or actions, to find them a couple of hours later lifeless and covered with blood.

Ya Allah, please save the innocent lives in Palestine from the hands of the evil Israelis.

Israel terus membedil, sekolah sasaran terbaru
07/01/2009 12:38pm
BANDAR GAZA 7 Jan.
– AFP

~ what a day ~

After work I rushed to Klinik Nik Suzet in Shah Alam to get the second Tetanus jab. After waiting for about half an hour, my name was called to see the doctor. I told her that she asked me to come and see her at the end of July to get my second jab. She checked my record and screamed OMG! You are supposed to come and see me at the end of June not July dear.. Oh my! She said tomorrow I will be 36 weeks so it is too late to continue with the jab. She asked me not to worry and just pray for the best. Huhuhuhu.. I have yet to google on the consequences of missing the Tetanus jab. Hmm.. should I worry?

Right after I got out from the clinic, hubby called and asked me to buy iced Milo for him. He was already on the way back to our Shah Alam home. I told him I was about to go to Giant right away so he was a bit merajuk and told me he'll get his own Milo then.. I said OK and went into the car. When I started the engine, the alarm went off! Must be the battery again. So had to call hubby to rescue me.. Luckily he was just nearby and had already bought the new battery on his way.. hmm.. akibat derhaka agaknye nie... huhuuh.. the next time hubby asked me to buy Milo, I definitely won't say No anymore!

Introducing my hubby the superhero :p

Junior was hit :(

I forgot to blog about my dear Junior who got hit last weekend. Last Friday night, the parking was full. So, Junior had to sleep outside. We only realized that Junior was hurt the next day when Hubby wanted repark Junior inside the Condo compound replacing Abang Besar. One of the guard saw the incident and took the guy's number. We haven't called the guy yet. Maybe this Saturday afer sending Junior to the clinic we could call the guy and see who was the culprit that hit my Junior.

P/s: Junior is my car and Abang Besar is hubby's car :p
